Why isn't the file much smaller?
True PDF compression re-encodes images at lower quality, which requires a full PDF renderer and can lose fidelity. This tool does a safe structural re-save (object streams) that is lossless and modest. If you need a dramatic shrink of a photo-heavy PDF, reduce the image resolution before exporting to PDF.
Why is my PDF still large after compression?
Scanned images inside the PDF dominate size. Re-compressing or OCR-optimizing those embedded images is what shrinks the file; text-only PDFs are already small.
Is compressed PDF quality good enough to print?
At 100-150 DPI it is fine for screen and acceptable for draft printing. For professional print, keep 200+ DPI and accept a larger file.
